Cynthia Robertson Russom
Cynthia Robertson Russom, 82, died Friday, October 28, 2016. The Savannah native was a 1951 graduate of Savannah High School. She attended Sophie Newcomb Women’s College at Tulane University, transferring to the University of Georgia after 2 years. She graduated from UGA with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Following graduation, she married Bo Russom in 1954.
She traveled to many locations as Bo was transferred with his job, finally returning to Savannah in 1985.
For many years she was an elementary school teacher in some of the cities where they lived. Upon returning to Savannah she taught at Pooler Elementary and Calvary Day School. She was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years. She was an active member of Community Bible Study and Bible Study Fellowship. She was also an active volunteer with Hospice Savannah for many years.
Surviving are her husband, Kevin “Bo” Russom, of Savannah, two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Russom Swan, of Atlanta, and Mrs. Leslie Russom Edmond (Charles), of Atlanta, two sons, Kevin M. Russom, Jr. (Gail), of Savannah, and Mark R. Russom (Laurie), of Indianapolis, IN, ten grandchildren; Michael Russom, Daniel Willard, Stephen Swan, Robbie Swan, Matthew Edmond, Caroline Edmond, C.J. Edmond, Emma Russom, Jackie Russom, Henry Russom, two great-granddaughers, and one sister, Betty R. Thurber, of Bakersfield, CA.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, with burial in Forest Lawan Memory Gardens.
Remembrances may be made to Isle of Hope United Methodist Church or Hospice Savannah.
